Mead Newborn Photography Session: A Floral Affair

A Sweet Studio Newborn Session

This little girl’s newborn session was especially fun to photograph. Her mama is also a photographer and lives just a few minutes from my Loveland studio, making the session an easy trip from Mead.

She gave me a hint at the beginning that she might make me work for those sleepy newborn photos, but after being wrapped for a little while, she settled beautifully. From there, we were able to move through several soft, simple setups while following her cues throughout the session.

Soft Blue Florals

One of my favorite setups from her gallery featured a soft blue floral fabric. Blue may not be the first color families think of for a baby girl, but it photographed beautifully against her rosy cheeks and delicate features.

A Baby-Led Approach

Every newborn responds a little differently to posing, wrapping, and movement. Some babies settle quickly into unwrapped poses, while others are happiest wrapped for part of their session.

Rather than forcing a particular setup, I follow each baby’s cues and adjust the session as we go. That flexibility helps create a gallery that feels natural while keeping your baby comfortable throughout the experience.

Newborn sessions are typically planned during pregnancy, with the session date finalized once your baby arrives. Most are photographed within the first few weeks after birth, while still allowing flexibility for babies who need a little more time.
